DARPA plans Nanobots for fast healing of injuries

DARPA is nurturing a resplendent dream and will soon make them real. DARPA is planning to implement nanobots in medical science that can provide faster healing mechanism than that can be attained by medications. The concept has been developed keeping soldiers in mind who need to have a quick recovery. The main idea is to utilise the person’s own immune response and not on any eternal medication. Scientist have coined the term ElectRx.

Soldiers are that backbone of our society and the real heroes who sacrifice their comfort zone for the sake of others. So, innovating something like this would be phenomenal. Sometimes soldiers suffer acute injury which damages a part or major part of their peripheral nerves which makes it difficult for the persons to recover with just medications. This nanobots when innovated and implemented will work wonders and will stimulate by modulation of the peripheral nervous system. The horizon in DARPA’s vision would need strong technologies like vivo sensing and neural stimulation, advanced biosensors and novel optical, acoustic and electromagnetic devices. This will rekindle small bundles of nerve fibers that control relevant organ functions.

According to Doug Weber, DARPA program manager:

The technology DARPA plans to develop through the ElectRx program could fundamentally change the manner in which doctors diagnose, monitor and treat injury and illness. Instead of relying only on medication—we envision a closed-loop system that would work in concept like a tiny, intelligent pacemaker. It would continually assess conditions and provide stimulus patterns tailored to help maintain healthy organ function, helping patients get healthy and stay healthy using their body’s own systems.
