Yureka- the 64-bit smartphone launched by a combined effort of Micromax and Cyanogen

Yureka by Micromax is launched in India and this is the first product from the new Yu brand of Micromax. Yureka has brought some exquisite and promising features which are comparable to the latest flagship smartphones in the market but the most resplendent thing about this phone is its price of 8999 INR which approximates to $142. Micromax has started in pre-release booking via Amazon along with some great offers. Micromax had literally banned the entry of OnePlus One in India with its latest tie up with Cyanogen and finally launched the Yureka under the neophyte brand YU. Let’s have a quick look at the features of the the new smartphone.

A sneak peek at the features of Yureka

Yureka is bringing 64 bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 Octa Core processor with 1.5 GHz processing speed, the first among the budget phones. Yureka run the CyanogenMod 11 operating system but speculation is there that it has plans to roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop via CyanogenMod based custom ROM. So, Micromax has thought of a future for this phone as well. It will have an Integrated Adreno 405 GPU. Cyanogen OS 11 promises to deliver seamless computing experiences along with strong security systems.

Yureka with CyanogenMod

The gadget features a humongous 5.5 HD IPS screen (resolution: 1280×720) and will provide enhanced durability as it will be teamed up with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with Oleophobic coating. Olephobic coating has been provided to exceptionally costly devices like the iPhones. Oleophobic coating means the coating will have less or no affinity for oil and hence no fingerprint will be caught by the screen.

The phone has a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP selfie camera, 2500 mAh optimized battery with 8 hours talk time, 4G LTE connectivity and many more. We will bring you more updates about this devices soon.

Rooting of smartphone is allowed or not? I heard rooting by user will not void the warranty, is it true? Cyanogen OS does not let you select “app permission”, it’s OS automatically does that. I don’t think it is to be safe to control the privacy by OS. Though the price looks quite attractive.

Micromax yureka is surely amazing phone at this price point, but camera is not good enough to take high quality photos. even the phone camera is equiped with the sony sensor. and the battery backup is not that good.otherwise the device is pretty good.

This is a real bargain at this price, even if some of the features are not quite so good as expected. Smartphone I’ll definitely consider buying in the near future.
