Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) also known as drones, are aircraft either controlled by ‘pilots’ from the ground or increasingly, autonomously following a pre-programmed mission. While there are dozens of different types of drones, they basically fall into two categories, those that are used for reconnaissance and surveillance purposes and those that are armed with missiles and bombs.
Recently, on Wednesday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m. the TOKYO(Reuters) has a bizarre discovery of a drone possibly befoul with radioactive cesium on the roof on the roof of Japan’s Prime Minister, Shizo Abe’s office. However it has been known that the radiation of the drone is too low to affect any human beings.
The officials responded by saying that they had no idea who had flown the drone, which was about two feet in width with four propellers. They are perplexed of how long the drone had been on the roof. During the incident the Japanese Minister, Shizo Abe was happened to be in Indonesia to attend an Asian-African meeting where the drone was discovered. The police are still in massive agitation as it is still unclear about the proper intention of the drone landed on the roof of the Prime Minister’s office.
The police in Tokyo informed that the drone was carrying a camera and a bottle of unidentified liquid that contained a sticker with the universal symbol for radioactivity. There has been some traces of radioactive found cesium were found on the roof near the drone. They are reviewing whether it came from the drone. Cesium is not found in nature, but large amounts of it were released into the atmosphere during the Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011.
The discovery of radioactivity are still in concern about whether the drone might have been a part of a terrorist attack. There has also been a speculation that it could have been a protest against the Fukushima incident.
“ The situation concerns the centre of Japanese Government, the Prime Minister’s office, and we will take every necessary step including a detailed investigation by police” said Sug marking Japan’s seriousness after the landing of drone in the White House’s ground in January.
The drone was said to have been found by an official at the Premier’s office and the device was around 50 cm (20 ins) in diameter and lastly media have informed that a Japanese company is setting up a groundwork to mass produce six propeller drones that could estimate the value of radiation levels and help with Government’s recalling effort.
