Apollo 10: NASA releases archived mysterious musical audio from the far side of the moon

In 1969, just two month’s before Neil Armstrong’s historic landing on the moon, the Apollo 10 astronauts orbited round the moon. During their journey, the astronauts heard some eerie mysterious music from the far side of the moon, i.e. the side which doesn’t face the earth. The sound was queer and astronauts were baffled whether or not to send back the information to NASA. The recordings during the journey were archived for three decades until 2008 when these archived files were declassified. Finally NASA has decided to feature the information in Science Channel’s NASA’s Unexplained Files this month.

The astronauts, during their one hour long journey at the far side of the moon, heard some “whooooo” like strange sound. The sound was mysterious because at the far side of the moon, the spacecrafts lose their radio links with the earth. So the sound, in no way, comes from the earth. Besides, the extremely well trained astronauts are well aware of the type of sounds they could hear while on space. This unearthly sound was under cover for several decades. The Apollo 10 astronauts heard the sounds in their headsets. The audio files recorded their conversation about the sounds. Check them out:

‘You hear that? That whistling sound? Whooooooooo!’ one of them says.
Another astronaut says he can: ‘It sounds like, you know, outer space-type music.’
‘Well, that sure is weird music,’ his companion agrees.

Well, the music they heard is “whoooooo” and not even remotely related to the legendary “Dark side of the moon” musical piece by Pink Floyd. Check out the video:
