The competition for security researchers is to exploit a Chromebook security while logging in Guest Mode. The initial price money decided on the competition was $50,000. However, Google did not receive considerable numbers of submission. This is when Google identified that the tedious and sensitive job that researchers would need to pursue deserves more prize money. Google added in one of its blog posts, “Great research deserves great awards, so we’re putting up a standing six-figure sum, available all year round with no quotas and no maximum reward pool.”

Google also expanded the competition by introducing the Download Protection Bypass bounty. This reward program provides scope to rsearchers to include rewards for methods that bypass Chrome’s Safe Browsing download protection features.
