A Russian court has fined Twitch a whopping amount of $57,000 on Tuesday. The reason behind the fine is a news about Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine, which has been deemed as fake by the Russian government. According to Interfax news agency, Russian court has fined 4 million roubles which approximates to $57,000 for failing to remove the content.
Twitch is a video streaming service, owned by Amazon (AMZN.O). The company was approach for a comment over this incident. They did not respond to a request for comment.
According to Reuters, “Moscow has long objected to foreign tech platforms’ distribution of content that falls foul of its restrictions, with Russian courts regularly imposing penalties.”
