Spiegel Leaks say NSA could not crack Encryption tools

If someone says that NSA has failed to decrypt many encryption tools till date, it would be impossible for us to believe. However, it is true. This is what is claimed in a report by Spiegel. It s needless to say that NSA holds the monopoly over internet security at present but it is equally queer that it has not yet been able to crack several encryption tools.

The report says that people think that the National Security Agency is so many steps ahead that it will be possible for them to decrypt and encrypted document. However the assumption lost its credibility after the report has been released. One such example is the encryption system of the popular web-conferencing service of Microsoft Skype. The service which was assumed to be safe went into the hands of NSA. An archive of whistleblower Edward Snowden said that,”Sustained Skype collection began in Feb 2011″. It was declared that coders were able to crack Skype. However, Software giant Microsoft acquired Skype in 2011 and the Redmond based company said in a statement: “We will not provide governments with direct or unfettered access to customer data or encryption keys.” According to report, “The NSA had been monitoring Skype even before that, but since February 2011, the service has been under order from the secret US Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), to not only supply information to the NSA but also to make itself accessible as a source of data for the agency.”
