Display

The display of Note 8 is the infinity display which was introduced by Samsung in Galaxy S8. The infinity display is a near bezel-less, full-frontal glass, edge-to-edge screen. The infinity display has come a long way from S8 to Note 8 and the results are pretty amazing. The screen fills up the device surface and it looks stunning. And the best thing about this display is that it doesn’t make handling of the phone difficult at all. The display is 6.3 inches Super AMOLED touch screen with 1440 x 2960 pixels and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The Home Button is equipped with 3D Touch. Note 8 has a much more distinct separation between the glass and metal and the sides are much flatter, thus giving the phone a better grip.

Revamped S Pen and Screen Off Memo

This is one of the most elegant features of Note 8. Unlike the predecessors, you no longer need to open the S Note app to jott down notes. The Screen Off Memo feature enables you to write note anytime anywhere. All you need to do is pull out the S Pen and simply start writing on the screen. It doesn’t even matter if the phone is locked. It can create note at any condition and hence the name Screen OFF Memo. Another advantage of this Screen OFF Memo is the auto-save feature. Type the note and keep it as it is. The note will be automatically saved in Samsung Notes. o activate Screen off memo, go to Device in the Settings menu option and tap on Lock Screen. Then select Action memo on Lock Screen.

The S Pen features the same clickable top, a 0.7 mm ballpoint-sized tip, and over 4,000 levels of pressure sensitivity. S Pen also supports Live message where you can draw and type a message, save it as a GIF and then share it with your friends.

Body and Dimension

The outer body of Note 8 is made up of glass in the front and a metal frame at the back. The dimensions are 6.40 x 2.94 x 0.34 inches. Indeed it is a big device in terms of dimensions with a huge screen. Still you can hold the device with ease and poise. The device finishing is more angular compared to the other Samsung handsets.

The back camera housing is black in color. The previous devices has camera housing matched to that of the body of the phone. Here, this is an exception. Overall, looks-wise the phone has the royal appearance.

Sensors

The two main sensors which we shall talk about are the Iris scanner and the fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint scanner has been shifted from the bottom of the display to the back of the phone. This has been done to give more space to the display. But the change is not a positive one as it’s quite inconvenient to touch the back of the phone precisely without watching. Now coming to the Iris scanner, the precision is really appreciable. It detecs the iris in less than a blink of eye. Other important sensors are accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor, Hall Sensor, Heart Rate Sensor, Proximity Sensor, RGB Light Sensor, Pressure Sensor, etc.

Battery

The non-removable Li-Ion 3300 mAh battery gives great back. The battery lasts for about a day. Even though the capacity is less than that of S8, but the performance is better becuase of the beautifully optimized software installed in the device. Hence, even with QHD+ resolution, the battery lasts exceptionally long.

So here we are at the end of the review. A very basic guide for users who are willing to buy Note 8. The device is definitely now the most coveyted handsets. Be it the battery back up, the camera with optical zoom, the Bixby, the advanced Note features or the high end hardware and software, Note8 is a winner.
