The glucose level will be measured by a small sensor present in it from the eye tears. Along with the snesor will be an extrememely small antenna even thinner than hair. The antenna will most probably used for connecting wirelessly to a reference device. The device will be placed between two soft layers of the contact lens.

The Chief executive of Novartis Joe Jimenez said that the device will be aimed for a better health of eyes. The electronic piece will be “so small they look like bits of glitter”. The smart lenses will open a great doorway for research and advanced studies. The device is reported to be launched by 2015.
